My Tanning Routine

Well hello ladies.. As Im sure most of you can relate, tanning is something I struggled with for so long! It wasn't really until I went to beauty college and got more of an understanding on how things worked that I managed to get it just right. Today I'm just going to tell you everything I do to get my tan right from prep to upkeep.

For my prep exfoliation is key! I usually exfoliate about 2-3 times a week anyway so when I'm tanning I make sure to exfoliate the day before I do my tan. If you have any shaving to do aswell it should be done the day before you exfoliate. Once I have exfoliated, I apply moisturiser all over. To exfoliate I use Cocoa Brown's Tough Stuff Exfoliator with exfoliating gloves.

The next day before I do my tan I always shower to remove any residue from products or perfume on my skin. Once showered apply moisturiser to any dry skin you may have to ensure for a more even coverage. I use the Cocoa Brown 1 hour mousse. I apply it using the Bellamianta tanning mitt because it is so smooth and fluffy, I think it's much easier to get an even coverage using this mitt. I apply two coats of the tan all over putting slightly lighter coats over my feet, knees, elbows and hands to avoid having any dark patches. Once applied I let it dry for about 10 minutes and then get dressed. If possible I always put on fluffy pajamas after doing tan because they don't leave lines in your tan like some leggings or string tops might.

Even though it is a 1 hour mousse, I always leave tan on overnight before I wash it. I do with every tan because I've found thats when I get my best result. The next morning when I wash it off, I pat myself dry, moisturise and I'm ready to go! To maintain it, I moisture everyday and start to exfoliate every second day after 3 days to make sure it fades evenly.

I forgot to take a before picture today but this is how pale I usually am...

And this is the colour I have 2-3 hours after applying the Cocoa Brown 1 hour mousse...

If you have any tanning tips of your own let me know.. Hope this helped some people!

All my love,
SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
