Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer Review

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to be reviewing the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer. I'll start by saying, for the sake of total honesty, I didn't buy this for myself, it was gifted to us at Christmas. I definitely wouldn't spend this much money on a hairdryer myself, even if I did have that type of money to spend! I also just don't really have that much of an interest in my hair, when you have incredibly thick, curly, frizzy, long hair you tend to avoid it as much as possible! But when it ended up in our house I was dying to try it out!

It just so happened that this year as a 'somewhat' new years resolution I had decided I was going to do more with my hair. Just little things like blow-drying it after I washed it instead of letting it dry naturally and trying to have it down more rather than thrown up on my head any which way. Until this year I never blowdried my hair myself at home, for the simple reason it would stand on my head afterwards! The Dyson seemed like it could be the answer to my hair problems so I gave it a go.

( My hair when it's half tamed! )

The hairdryer itself is very unique in style compared to a normal hairdryer. It has a very sleek design and it is very light weight, which is a godsend when you have a huge head of hair like me. We all know the struggle of having to take a break mid straightening your hair cause you can't keep your arms up anymore! It also has various other selling points such as Air Multiplier Technology which produces a high pressure and high velocity gust of air and a digital motor that works six times faster than a regular hairdryer.

I don't want to spout on too much about it's features and so on because truthfully I don't utilize them enough. I never change the temperature or airflow settings but it can be done. It comes with 3 heads which connect to it magnetically. It includes a smoothing nozzle, styling concentrator and a diffuser. Again I haven't used them an awful lot, I can't work my head around the diffuser at all but the smoothing nozzle does exactly what it's supposed to! I usually use this for about 10 minutes after my hair is fully dry alongside a round brush just to smoothen out some of my frizziness.

After using it for the past few months I've grown to love it. It dries my hair in about 20 minutes which is literally a MIRACLE for me, I cannot even describe how thick my hair is! I also think that my hair seems smoother after using the dyson, even without using the smoothing nozzle attachment, than it would after being dried with a normal hairdryer. The one thing that I don't like about it is the magnetic attachments, as cool as they may seem they're really not. I can't tell you how many times I've been doing my hair and had them just fall off if I hit off them by mistake! Do I think it's worth the money? Not really.

 ( The on/off , airflow and temperature settings )

( The front, where airflow is released and magnetic heads are attached)

I feel like it would feel more beneficial to someone like me with really long, thick, curly hair more so than someone with short or thin hair. Just because it's lightweight, faster and I feel it doesn't give me as much frizz. If you're someone who is really into your hair as well and actually capable of utilizing it to it's full ability I feel it would have some appealing features. All in all I do think it's a good product but the price point is just a bit too rich for my blood.

If you have a Dyson hairdryer or have tried them out let me know what you think! I'll be back again next week but until then I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week!

All my love,

SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
