Catwalk HQ Self Tan Remover Review

Hello Lovelies! Long time no chat! If you follow my instagram page (@learningtolovebysjlx) you probably know now that I'm currently 15 weeks pregnant which is the explanation for my absence! As I'm sure you can imagine I have been incredibly tired but thankfully I've slowly started to regain some of my energy lately so here I am!

Today I'm going to do a review of the Catwalk HQ Self Tan Remover, lately it seems like products like this one have just been popping up everywhere and for any tan lover like myself it really does sound like a dream come true so the main question on my mind was do they really work? So this week I went into Ryans Pharmacy in Nenagh to see what they had. I found they had this tan remover alongside the Iconic Bronze Tan Remover. I chose the Catwalk HQ remover purely because it contained slightly more product and it was a tiny bit cheaper. The Catwalk HQ remover contains 200ml of product and it cost me €12.80.

I had never used any of this brands products before so I was excited to see what it was like. The packaging is very simple and pretty, I mean what girl doesn't love pink?! I was also super happy when I realised that it is an Irish made product by an Irish brand! So all in all first impressions were good! I wanted to use it because even though lately I have been using a brilliant tan that I'm in love with I had gotten a little bit lazy with my tan upkeep due to my tiredness and it had gone a bit mucky as expected.

I followed the instructions on the bottle exactly, so I started by applying the remover all over my body. I rubbed it in until it started to lather up and then left it sitting for 10 minutes to soak in. I was unsure at this point of how well it would work as it dried in nearly completely to my skin which I wasn't expecting. I then did as advised and scrubbed myself with a dry exfoliating glove (pictured below) all over before hopping into the shower and getting rid of the excess using my normal body wash and exfoliating gloves.

I won't lie as I was getting into the shower I was looking at how much tan still seemed to be stuck to my body and I felt a little hopeless thinking yet again this is just another gimmick but I carried on none the less! Even getting out of the shower I was still looking at myself unsure. However once I had finished up and dried myself I realised what a difference it had made. The proof is in the picture down below girlies, it definitely worked!

As you can see from the pictures it did such a good job in removing stubborn patches of tan, if anything I still have slight tinges of discolouration here and there but they aren't noticeable at all. I would have felt totally confident in applying a fresh layer of tan to myself straight after knowing that no old tan would mess with my result but I was just too lazy! I did have a slightly unrealistic expectation at the start of the process that by applying this I could just glide my old tan off with no problems and that wasn't necessarily true, I still had to scrub, scrub, scrub but there's no way I would have gotten the tan off with the same amount of effort had I not used this product so it did make my job much easier!

So just to recap, it didn't brake the bank, I found it to be unscented so no horrible smells, it is from an Irish brand and most importantly it worked! If you love your fake tan like me but hate the process of removing it or waiting for it to wear off I would 100% recommend this product to you, I'm delighted that I bought it!

That's all my thoughts for today, I'm hoping to have another blogpost up next week all about the first trimester of my pregnancy so if that's something that interests you keep an eye out! I will also be doing another review veeeeery soon of the tanning brand that I have been using religiously lately! So until then I hope you all have an amazing weekend and if you have any thoughts or questions regarding this blogpost just let me know!

All my love,
SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
