My Mothercare Haul

Hello Lovelies!
As promised I'm back today to show you everything I bought from Mothercare this week. As I mentioned in my blogpost yesterday I have bought most of the things from my baby checklist here and I thought other expectant mamas might be interested in seeing them. Anything from yesterdays checklist that isn't listed here I either already have from elsewhere or I have yet to get so if you're looking for information on something or other and don't see it here just leave me a comment or dm me on instagram and I'll be more than happy to let you know what I bought and where I got it from. I'm here to help as much as I can as I know how confusing it can be. Also I haven't included any clothes or blankets etc in this post as I will be doing a separate blogpost regarding all them next week and not all of them are from Mothercare.

I have attached pictures of everything I bought below along with their prices at the minute and some brief information about each product. Some of the prices may be different next week as I did get some of these on sale but it shouldn't make a huge difference. Also if you are expecting, check out that sale! I think it's only on for another 3 or 4 days and the offers are very good so have a look if you're on the hunt for some baby items! Anyway, here we go...

I bought this changing mat to go on our changing table, it would also be very handy to bring with you for nights away etc as it is very light and flexible. I love the design and it was only €9.50.

I decided to buy an electric breast pump instead of a manual one because I figured with a newborn the last thing I would want to do is sit there and pump manually so electric it was! I am planning on breastfeeding exclusively at the beginning and then hopefully will start to introduce bottles of my breast milk into her routine after the first couple of weeks just so she gets used to a bottle. This set is really handy as it comes with a storage box, a teat for the bottle attached to the pump and a storage pot for milk. This is one of the things I know I got on sale and it was €109.99.

I only bought a six pack of muslins from here as I already have a few from Primark. I decided to buy plenty of them as I plan to use them as burp cloths and wash cloths. They are 100% cotton and they cost €10.99.

I decided to buy an audio monitor rather than a visual monitor for the start as I plan on co-sleeping at the beginning so I won't really need a monitor too often. These are really handy as they plug directly into a socket and they have a night-light feature so it's like a 2in1. These cost €29.99 so they were very affordable also.

I wasn't too fussed about anything fancy for the car because I mean who is really?! I just got the simplest sun shades that they had and they cost €13.99 so they were cheap and cheerful.

We bought a crib mattress as that is what we will use for her after the first month or so. Up until that point I'll have a Moses basket beside our bed. It is 89x38cm which seems to be the standard crib size and it is waterproof incase any accidents occur. This was also an extremely reasonable price, I honestly thought they'd be much more expensive. It only cost us €17.99.

I bought these to go underneath her crib sheet, even though the mattress we bought is waterproof it's no harm to have some extra protection and padding there. I also bought a spare one because 'better safe than sorry' and they only cost €8.08 each.

Just another small essential. This cost us €7.99.

I only bought two soothers from here as I already have another two that we were gifted and I know we'll be gifted more from family and friends so I didn't want to buy too many. I got the orthodontic ones as they were what was recommended to me most and they only cost €6.50 for the pack.

I got this handy little set rather than buying all these little things separately. I would definitely recommend doing so as it worked out much cheaper as well as being less hassle. I included a picture above of the back of the box also so you can see everything that is included in the set. This cost €15.99.

I was told to buy these by some other mamas, they are supposed to be incredibly helpful for when you are breastfeeding especially if your nipples are cracked or sore which can be very common. They come in 2 sizes, I got size 1 which I think will work fine for me and they only cost €9.99, definitely worth it for a bit of comfort when needed.

I got this really cute bath set as well. It comes including a little holder for shampoos and body washes etc, a sponge and a hooded towel. Theres plenty of room in it so it will do the baba for quite a while and basically came with everything we need for bath time so I love it! It only cost us €34.99.

Last but not least we bought this little changing table. I had to borrow a picture of it from www.mothercare.ie as our one is currently all boxed up and we won't be assembling it until we move into our new house. It has two shelves and a drawer so theres plenty of space to put all of your changing table essentials and more. I also like that it's just plain wood as we will probably eventually paint it to match the colour scheme of the nursery. Mothercare have a really gorgeous range of changing tables so definitely have a look at them, there's something there to suit everyone. This one only cost us €79.99 in the sale.

That's it for my Mothercare Haul lovelies! I'm sure it goes without saying but just to be clear this isn't an ad or anything like that. I have no affiliation with Mothercare whatsoever, I'm just someone who likes minimal fuss so I wanted to find one website to get all of the essentials from and have them all delivered straight to my door and this website was the one I found to have the most reasonable prices throughout. You also get free home delivery if you spend over €50 so for me it was a winner all round.

I have also done quite a bit of baby clothes shopping this week so I might do a blogpost about those bits early next week for anyone who wants a gander, we found some really pretty pieces! But until then...

All my love,
SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
