Cleanse Off Mitt Review

Hello Lovelies! This week I wanted to talk about one of my absolute favourite products. I genuinely think everyone should have one! So, as you may know in the past year I have started becoming more interested in the skincare side of the beauty industry and I’ve been trying to really look after my skin properly. In my travels I came across a Skin Genius named Jennifer Rock AKA The Skin Nerd, I’m sure loads of you have heard of her! I started following Jennifer on Snapchat first after a fellow beauty therapist recommended I follow her and from then on I had to follow her on everything! I spoke a bit about Jennifer in my Skincare 101 blog a few months ago and the work she has done with Image Skincare (which I love!)  for years promoting their products and training therapists in Image facials/products alongside a list of other things. If you haven’t heard of Image products before you have to look them up! She has since gone out on her own and is now working for herself and is working on several projects including starting a Skin Nerd Website, which I am so excited about!! Make sure you head over to www.theskinnerd.ie and sign up to receive skincare segments from the skin nerds panel once the website officially launches!  Jennifer is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to skincare and answers any and all questions you might have about skincare on all her social media as well as educating you on stuff you never even knew about!

With all of this knowledge in tow she created something that is now my favourite, and loads of other womens favourite, product. The CLEANSE OFF MITT!! It is a mitt made out of microfibre material for removing your makeup and it will do you more good than you realise! While most people would just grab a baby wipe in the evening to scrub off their makeup and think nothing of it, using that baby wipe is doing more damage to your skin than you realise. Baby wipes don’t remove as much dirt, oil and bacteria as using a cleanser would and aside from that they all contain too many chemicals. So, in comes the cleanse off mitt, it’s chemical free, kind to the skin and can be used on all skin types! Plus you don’t even need cleanser to use it! The tiny loops of fibre in the cleanse off mitt, that are the same diameter as a humans hair, break down the surface tension that binds oil and makeup to  the skin making it easier to remove.

(Makeup half on/off)

All you do is place the mitt on your hand,  soak it with luke warm water and use it the same way you would use a wipe to remove your make up! Once you’ve removed all your makeup just give the mitt a quick scrub with some anti-bacterial soap to remove any dirt, oil and makeup on the mitt and they recommend that once a week, alongside this, you wash the mitt at 30 degrees or less in the washing machine to ensure it stays clean. It’s just as quick and easy as a baby wipe but much better for your skin! You can use the mitt on it’s own or alongside a cleanser. When I use mine, I usually remove my makeup with the mitt and then apply my cleanser with my hands and remove it with sponges to ensure my skin is clean. You could also use the mitt with your cleanser on it if you wanted to.

(All gone!)

I really loved this product! They’re only €5 each so they are really affordable, you can find a list of the stockists on www.cleanseoffmitt.com. I bought three just so I wasn’t using the same one everyday and they all still look brand new, they wash very well. I will admit, I was so surprised when I first used it because I didn’t think it would remove my makeup as well as it did, my face is always spotless after using it. Even with waterproof mascara and eyeliner it works wonders. All in all, I really think it’s a winner! It works brilliantly, it’s good for your skin, it’s affordable and it was created by yet another amazing Irish Girl Boss, what’s not to love?!

If you have a Cleanse Off Mitt of your own let me know how you got on with it and what you thought? As always if you’ve any questions or comments for me just get in touch!

All my love,

SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
