My Eyeliner Line Up

Hello my loves! I hope this week has been good to you so far! This week has been so work orientated for me, I cannot wait for the weekend! Anyhooo, today I'm going to show you my favourite gel and liquid eyeliners! Eyeliner is a must have now for even my most natural of looks, I just love to give a bit of definition to the eye in my looks. Even if I'm not doing winged eyeliner for a look, I'll usually just pop a bit along my lash line to define my eye or help disguise false lashes. Today I'm going to show you the four eyeliners I use most, two liquid liners and two gel liners. I will say now that I do prefer gel eyeliners to liquid ones as I find sometimes liquid liners can look a bit watery and don't give a really solid black look but nevertheless they do still have their purposes.

I'm going to start with the liquid eyeliners so, here we go:

Catrice Cosmetics Calligraph Ultra Slim Eyeliner Pen: I decided to start with this one because this is the first eyeliner I got that I successfully was able to use. I was always a disaster with eyeliner and as a result I stayed away from it for a long time until I picked up this beauty in Ryan's Pharmacy Nenagh for 3.50. It has a really long felt tip that creates a super thin line and for me starting out that was easier as I could start small and build up the line to be thicker if I wanted. It doesn't dry up while you're using it aswell like some felt tip eyeliners can and although it is a liquid liner it doesn't look very watery when on, it has a pretty solid black finish. It doesn't last as well as my gel liners throughout the day but as I said it was a god send when I started trying to get the hang of eyeliner! Plus the price is brilliant so it's definitely worth a try!

Catrice Cosmetics Eyeliner Pen: Mainly I added this to one to the list just because I find it nice to have a bit of versatility with my eyeliners. This is a catrice felt tip eyeliner pen also but the tip is slightly shorter and chunkier. Once I got the hang of doing my eyeliner I found this one perfect for when I'm doing a bolder eyeliner look as it is a little less time consuming than trying to build up the thinner liner. I find that this liner also stays looking better for longer on my eye than the previous one. I picked this one up in Ryan's Chemist in Nenagh  for 3.50 as well, so again the price is brilliant!

Now for the gel liners:

MAC Fluidline Blacktrack Gel Eyeliner: This was the first gel eyeliner I bought! At first I found it impossible to use, it can be messier than using a liquid liner to start off with but I eventually got the hang of it. I love the colour this gives, it's such a solid black. As the name suggests it is very fluid once you're applying it but I did find with this one that over time it dried up slightly so I now just pop some duraline from Inglot Ireland onto my brush before I apply it and it is good as new! It has brilliant staying power, once it's on I don't have to worry about it for the day! I would say though that this product might be easier to use for someone who is more experienced with makeup than beginners as it is so hard to fix mistakes with this eyeliner because it holds to the skin so well. I can't remember how much I paid for it but it retails on the Brown Thomas Official Website for 21 euro and it comes in plenty of different colours. Overall it's most definitely a goodie!

Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel - I love love love this eyeliner! This is definitely my favourite from the whole bunch! It has a slightly creamier texture than the Fluidline eyeliner and it is just so easy to apply! It just glides over the eye so easily, I've had this for a few months now and it hasn't dried out or anything so far. I do still occasionally use Duraline with this one also but it doesn't need it to be honest! Again this one has a really solid black colour which is a must when buying an eyeliner, this liner is also available in a range of colours so I will definitely be giving some more a try. The black eyeliner is shade 77. Staying power is definitely one of this liner's strong points as well, I've never had this run, smudge or fade! It retails for 15 euro on the Inglot website and it contains more product that the Fluidline does so it's amazing value! This is my holy grail eyeliner, if you haven't tried it you need to. Again I would say it is more suited to someone with more experience, that's how I feel in general about gel liners, but this one is easier to fix I find!

Let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you thought of them! Even if you've any tips on eyeliner, be it for professionals or beginners, let me know! That concludes today's blog post, I hope you enjoyed it and got some useful information along the way! As always if you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to get in touch! Enjoy the rest of your day lovelies!

All my love,

SJL X

Sosu Lashes and Limited Edition Lash Case

Hello lovelies! This week I'm going to do the long awaited review of the Sosu Lashes I picked up and her new limited edition lash case. I've been trying out these lashes for months now and if you follow me on Instagram i'm sure you'll know they've made a few appearances there. I was a little late to catch on to the Sosueme trend, I actually didn't even try out her lashes until she released her 'Primark Exclusive' range and even then I only bought one pair in case I didn't like them.  I've never been much of a false lash person for the simple fact that I could not apply them, I literally could NOT do it. I either ended up with the lash stuck pretty much everywhere it shouldn't have been or couldn't get them to stick at all. The only false lashes I could apply myself were the Primark individual lashes so when I bought a pair of her 'Belle' lashes from Primark I wasn't very hopeful but I still wanted to see what all the hype...

Self Love...

In light of it being World Mental Health Awareness Day (October 10th) I wanted touch on one subject in particular that I have been trying to teach myself in recent months: SELF LOVE! In the past few years I have personally struggled with depression and anxiety and in order to help myself cope I use various coping mechanisms that I have picked up during the years. Over time I worked out what made me feel better and what triggered my anxiety so I was more capable of handling a problem should it arise but I wasn’t always able to do this on my own. I picked up several coping mechanisms through mindfulness groups and counselling, if those services weren’t available to me it would have been a lot harder for me to understand what exactly was happening within myself. One thing that you will always hear about in relation to mental health awareness will be self love. Self love is a very important part of the process in making yourself feel better or more able to cope. This was a concept...

Skincare - The Acids

Hello Lovelies! This week my blogpost is going to be based around skincare. If you read my Skincare 101 blog a couple of months ago you will know that I talked about cosmeceutical products, more specifically the differences between them and normal cosmetics. Cosmeceuticals are basically a mix of cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. They often contain ‘active’ ingredients which can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin therefore they are more beneficial to your skin than normal cosmetics you may find in a pharmacy or supermarket. Among the long list of ‘active’ ingredients you may find in cosmeceuticals, the word acid may come up quite frequently. Cosmeceuticals can contain one or more acid at a time such as glycolic acid, lactic acid or azelaic acid and so on. These are all ‘active’ ingredients as they penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and they all have different uses and benefits for different skin types. Products from brands such as Image Skincare, Nip and F...
